Complete SSC CGL Document Requirements (Tier 1 → Job Joining)

Never miss a document that could disqualify you. SSC verifies originals at multiple stages. Keep attested photocopies + originals ready from application stage. Category certificates must be from competent authorities in prescribed format.

Online Application (One-Time Upload)

  • Recent Color Photograph

    JPG 20-50KB, 3.5x4.5cm, white bg
    MANDATORY
    Uploaded once, printed on admit card & used for all verifications. Face 70-80% visible, front view.

  • Signature

    JPG 10-20KB, black ink on white paper
    MANDATORY
    Uploaded once, printed on admit card. Must match exactly at DV stage or risk disqualification.

  • Valid Photo ID

    Aadhaar/Voter ID/Driving License/PAN
    Name must match application exactly. Keep ready for Tier 1 exam day identity verification.

Tier 1 Exam Day

  • Admit Card Printout

    2 copies, A4 size
    MANDATORY
    One copy submitted at entry gate, one kept for records. Photo & signature verified against original.

  • Original Photo ID

    Same as application (Aadhaar preferred)
    MANDATORY
    Physical verification at exam center. Name, photo must match admit card exactly.

  • COVID Certificate (if required)

    Aarogya Setu Green/ Vaccination proof
    Some centers still check vaccination status or health declaration.

Tier 2 Exam Day

  • Tier 2 Admit Card

    2 printouts
    MANDATORY
    Separate admit card from Tier 1. Photo/signature verification repeated.

  • Tier 1 Result/Score Card

    Printout
    Some centers verify Tier 1 qualification status.

  • Matriculation Certificate (10th)

    Original + 2 self-attested copies
    MANDATORY
    Proves Date of Birth & name spelling. Must match application exactly.

  • 12th Standard Certificate

    Original + 2 copies
    MANDATORY
    Age eligibility proof & educational qualification verification.

  • Graduation Degree + Marksheets

    All years/semester originals + copies
    MANDATORY
    Essential qualification. Provisional OK if final pending.

Category Certificates (SC/ST/OBC/EWS)

  • SC/ST Certificate

    Pre-2010 or Post-2010 format, competent authority
    MANDATORY (if applicable)
    Reservation & 5-year age relaxation. Must be in SSC prescribed format.

  • OBC (NCL) Certificate

    Latest creamy layer format (not older than 1 yr)
    MANDATORY (if applicable)
    3-year age relaxation. Must show "Non-Creamy Layer" status.

  • EWS Certificate

    Financial year 2025-26 format
    MANDATORY (if applicable)
    10% reservation, 0 age relaxation. Income < ₹8 lakh/year.

  • PwD Certificate (UDID Card)

    40% benchmark disability, govt hospital
    MANDATORY (if applicable)
    40%+ age relaxation, scribe facility, extra time in exam.

  • Ex-Servicemen Certificate

    Discharge certificate + undertaking
    MANDATORY (if applicable)
    Age relaxation up to 50 years for Group C posts.

  • Character Certificate

    Gazetted officer/notary
    Moral character verification by local authorities.

  • Medical Fitness Certificate

    CGHS empanelled hospital
    MANDATORY
    Post-specific medical standards verification.

  • No Objection Certificate (NOC)

    Current employer (if applicable)
    Required if currently employed in govt/PSU.

What if my name spelling differs in 10th certificate vs Aadhaar? ›
Use affidavit + Gazette notification to prove correct spelling. SSC accepts with proper supporting documents at DV stage.
Is provisional degree certificate accepted? ›
Yes, provisional certificates accepted if university undertaking provided that final degree will be submitted within stipulated time.
OBC certificate older than 1 year – will it be accepted? ›
No. OBC-NCL certificate must be issued within 1 year of application closing date. Get fresh certificate from Tehsildar.
What if I forget one document at DV? ›
Critical documents (10th, degree, category) lead to immediate disqualification. Minor docs given 7-15 days to submit.
